Life is living and loving
Laughing and crying
Life is sadness, happiness, tears and joy
Life is hoping and waiting for a baby girl or boy
Life is a song and a dance
Life is a gamble and sometimes a romance
Life is moving fast and then
It starts to slow
Life can end at any moment
As we all surely know
Life is a poem, a prayer and a rhyme
Life is the beginning and start of our time.

Time is the villain that rules our fate
We must use it wisely before it’s too late
Our lives are ruled by hours, days and years
Happiness and sadness is measured by our tears
We must not abuse our time on this earth
Nor waste a second no matter what it’s worth
Like a meteorite falling from the sky
Our time on earth quickly passes by
Time can be our friend or it can be our foe
It brings happiness and sadness as we all know
Time is our journey we all have to face
It’s the final culmination in this neve- ending race
Our time is the present and we long for it to last
But we must look to the future
For time has taken us from the past.

As I sit here writing this poem
Not a pin drop can be heard around me
In my solitude, many thoughts fill my mind
I contemplate my future and think back on all the yesterdays
Here I am all alone, yet I wonder if this how I should always like it to be
I wonder if the phone will ring or someone will knock on the door
Everyone knows I’m available if they should need me
I don’t think I want to be alone too often
The sun is shining and the world is out there waiting for me
I’m going to walk down the street and say hello to everyone I meet
Someone out there needs a friend and so do I.

Though he was no scholar
He proudly wore his salesman’s collar
He was a loving man in every way
And proved it with his smile each and every day
He worked many long hours as Mother would say
Even so he always took time out to pray
When anyone was in great need
He knew Joe would be there to do a good deed
Always a friend along the way
He’d listen to people’s troubles and knew the right words to say
Thought it’s been five years since he’s been gone
Fond memories of his good life still linger on
Now through my tears I can proudly say
“My Dad, now there was a man.”
